Welcome to Dr. Livia Condemi!!

01/02/2025

After completing her PhD in Barcelona, she joined our lab in Turin, where she will apply her background in epigenetics to investigate the molecular basis of vulvodynia and other under-researched conditions in women’s health.

Something about Livia

“What makes a liver cell know it is a liver cell?”

This was the first question Livia heard on her first day of university, and it has stayed with her ever since. It sparked her curiosity and shaped the way she approaches science.

Livia studied Biotechnology and then Genetics and Molecular Biology at the University of Rome “La Sapienza,” where she developed a strong interest in epigenetics, also working in Rodolfo Negri’s lab. After a six-month internship at the CRG in Barcelona with Luciano Di Croce, she joined his lab as a Marie Curie Fellow within the ChromDesign ITN, earning her PhD in Biomedicine in 2024. Her work focused on Polycomb complexes and epigenetic regulation in stem cells and differentiation.

Livia is passionate about science as much as she is enthusiastic about books, stories, and getting lost in literary festivals.
